Great for the Community. Great for the Farmers

The way we make fresh food available for all is through the Fresh Stop Markets — farm-fresh food markets located in fresh food-insecure neighborhoods. These markets pop up every two weeks during the growing season, June-November, at churches, businesses and community centers. Shareholders pay on an income-based sliding scale, two weeks before each pick up date. Each bag contains nine varieties of fresh, local, mostly organically-certified vegetables and some fruit: $6 if paying with SNAP; $12 for limited resources; $25 for higher income; and, $40 for Food Justice Shares (small processing fees are added to each level except for $6). Everyone gets the same bag regardless of what they pay. Eight Fresh Stop Markets currently operate under New Roots’ umbrella: seven in Metro Louisville, one in southern Indiana. There also is an independent Fresh Stop Market in Hazard, Ky.

New Roots Louisville Fresh Stop Markets are on hiatus for the 2024 season, due to funding constraints. Please check back in early 2025 for any updates.
