Bringing In The New Year With New Roots
HAPPY NEW YEAR from your Fresh Stop family at New Roots!
It’s 2015 and New Roots is ready to get back in action! After a wonderful break, we are anxious to return to our veggie-loving comrades working to eat more greens in 2015! As we prepare for the coming Fresh Stop season, we are continuing FSTI (Fresh Stop Training Institute) classes where community members from multiple neighborhoods and surrounding counties are learning the nuts and bolts of Fresh Stop.
Our last gathering of 2014 took place at Pleasant View Baptist Church, located in the Parkland Neighborhood of West Louisville. Together we brainstormed community organizing strategies and gave an overview of how to build relationships with local farmers. The space was filled with committed individuals representing organizations and communities across Kentucky, all with the same goal: creating and sustaining their own Fresh Stop.
New Roots will begin the year just as we ended it, with community and with veggies! FSTI is no\inished yet, we have only begun. We are expecting more emerging leaders to enter the space with innovative ideas and passion for food justice. By May, the season will be kicked off by our 4th annual Strawberry Jamm Festival and with it, we will introduce five new Fresh Stops!
We would like to thank everyone who has played a role in making 2014 such an amazing year. We gained new friends, developed stronger partnerships and ate more kholirobi than ever! Be on the look out for all things New Roots!
With much love,
Your Friendly Neighborhood Fresh Stop Family
