Investing in Fruits and Veggies
As the end of the year approaches, we at New Roots are reflecting on our accomplishments in 2014. We welcomed a new Fresh Stop into our family. We met over 20 children through our Veggie Rx project, who now love kohlrabi, and we have humbly owned 2nd place at the entrepreneur showcase during the Slow Money national gathering. We have a lot to be thankful for.
Now we must look forward to 2015. We will connect more families to wonderful farmers but in order to do that New Roots needs your help. We have been awarded a $15,000 matching grant by Douglas Blvd. Christian Church (http://douglassblvdcc.com/). In order to receive the $15,000 to go toward the Smoketown Fresh Stop (2015) and other New Roots Projects, we must raise $5,000 by the end of the year.
We have raised $1,500 thus far from our from generous donors. At this time we would like to give thanks to our largest donor, Adath Jeshurn (http://www.adathjeshurun.com/) Synagogue for their $650 contribution. We are now $3,500 away from our goal. With your help, we can increase our capacity and reach more families/communities who need and desire fresh affordable food.
We are kicking off our newest project, Five for Five. If you donate $5 a month to New Roots, it will enable one family to receive the suggested five daily servings of fruits and veggies a day.
As you know, we are committed to increasing access to fresh food to all who need and desire it but we cannot do it alone. We need your help. Every dollar makes a difference. Please go to our homepage to donate or simply click the link below.
